Jane Fonda & Jerry Lewis Get Roasted

Okay, it has been the month of roasts. First June 1st, Jane Fonda. In honor of her charity G-CAPP. To teach teenagers how to not get pregnant. Interesting you don't have to teach them how to get pregnant.

Anyway it was an Atlanta sort of big celebrity event. Saw my old boss Ted Turner and Jane. Spoke for a little bit. Larry King was the M. C. for the evening and was sitting with Ted and Jane. Ted mentioned how the event was held on the nth. Anniversary of the founding of CNN. Of course Larry chimed in with, "Ya! I came on board June the. 1985." Or something like that at witch Ted replied, "Well, you weren't there in the fun days when Tush was around."

The roast was rather tame considering it was in Atlanta. Nobody wrote his or her own stuff and while Ted was doing his part he even said, "Hey this stuff is funny." Particularly when he said in Jane's book, "My Life So Far" he was chapter 23.

The best line of the night was when Jane got up to roast the roasters and said to Debbie Reynolds, "At least your husband left you for Elizabeth Taylor, mine left me for some 22 year old from Buford Georgia"

I hate when good movies slip though the cracks. That is what happened to "Keeping Up With The Steins." A film about one family trying out do the other family Bar Mitzvah. It is the sweetest funniest film I have seen in a long time. Garry Marshall as the estranged Grandfather is brilliant. Here is an Italian playing a Jew. Garry's son, Scott, directed the film. Well, you'll have to wait until it comes out on video because a guess it has already left most theatres.

Roast number two. Jerry Lewis was the one to be on the block. New York Hilton Friday June 9th. I covered the pre-roast interviews for EarthCam.Com. You can check it out. The Roast was very funny. Saw many old friends. Jerry's age and health were the major point of all the jokes. Example, "Dean Martin looks better these days than Jerry."
